Hi Richard,
Welcome to the mighty  A7 /10 forum  *smile*
Its usual for new members to post an introduction in the pics, storiesand intro's section

I have not heard of a "Kennedy" top yoke  *????*
Do you have a photo of what you are after?
Is it similar to an "Eddy Dow " top yoke?
I have a "Dow" type yoke but it does not have the usual "TD" letters on the casting ??

Hi John, Thanks for the reply. The bottom picture is the model that probably fits BSA. Upper one could be Norton or Triumph?? His catalog lists models that fit all three. Also, I think he offered special valve covers with his name cast into the top just like his yokes. I have one of his catalogues from the sixties if you all want a photocopy I would be happy to put it up on the forum or send it to you directly.  Thanks, Richard

Hi John, I also have a 63 RGS Spitfire which has been converted to road spec with orginal Eddie Dow equipment. This machine was restored for me in England by John Gleed who was the shop manager for Eddie Dow from 1956 to I think 1968.It was the last machine that John restored. Not original of course but it was done for me personally and I was not really that concerned about originality at the time when it was done.I can post pics of it if you are interested and also give you more detail on the bike. How about yours? Is it finished? Richard

Hi Again, As far as the Eddie Dow yoke there were two made the first one said Taylor Dow Superleggera and the later one just said Superleggera. I heard that someone made repops but don't have any info on that. The Taylor Dow one is harder to find and is preferrable. Do you have the Eddie Dow catalogue?I also have a Dunstall BSA bike- very interesting machine and quite unusual. Richard

G'day Richard.
Sounds like you have some very tasty bikes. Better get over to Pictures, Stories & Intros and tell us all about it.
Re the crank, I think I snapped all the cranks in existence when racing my SS  *bash*

Hi Richard,
Sad to report progress on my RGS has been very slow and sporadic
I am still gathering bits, trying to find original bits takes a long time
Thanks to one of the forum members the other week
I won the proper switch panel for the headlamp, luckily I have an original shell that
came on another project bike *smile*

Working on customer bikes always seems to take priority *sad2*

Hello everyone, About my bike:s first is a Dunstall equiped 1960 Super Rocket. Interesting story about this one! i bought it about 25 years ago as a rolling project because the seller to me bought it because he thought it was a RGS.   He then decided it was not and sold it to me for $400.00 It had a dual carbSpitfire head with 376 Monoblocs and Dunlop alloy rims when i got it. When I examined the frame I noticed that there was no number in the usual place where a Rgs number should be i.e. the left downtube. The actual frame number was on the right side of the headstock and was correct for a 1960 SR as was the engine number which was original to the bike. The frame itself had all the earmarks of a RGS but of course the RGS did not exist in 1960. So what I believe happened is that someone crashed the bike in the sixties or seventies and replaced the rolling chassis with an un- numbered RGS dealer service frame and all the other Goldstar parts i.e. forks and swing arm etc.I have owned 3 RGS's in the past so I know enough about what the frame  should be and also John Gleed also confirmmmed this to be an RGS frame.I then decided to collect all the proper Dunstall bits which was very difficult because they were only offered for 2-3 years. I have literature  by Paul Dunstall stating that although his BSA parts were designed for the unit bikes they also fit the earlier pre - unit machine . At the time I was also looking for an OLdani front brake which is what Dunstall would have supplied but could not find one so I ended up using a 4ls Fontana which is also period. The gas tank is an original Lyta which I bought from the works right before the owner passed many years ago. The rear brake is an Alfin Wellworthy unit and all the rest of  the parts are NOS Dunstall- BSA which took many years to find. The magneto is a Joe Hunt unit. Both rims are Dunlop alloy. The top yoke is John Tickle which Dunstall also used. The levers are Cupini which Paul also sold alongside of Tomaselli. The dropped handlebars are also stamped Dunstall. I can't think of anything else but I am alittle reluctant to use it very much because alot of the parts are almost irreplaceable. My other BSA is a 1963 Rocket Goldstar Spitfire which as you all know was made in very limited numbers-about 260 i think. It was restored for me in England by John Gleed as his last restoration.John was the service manager for Eddie Dow from 1956 to 1968 I believe and was instrumental in the genesis of the RGS.Its definetly not standard but it was restored to my taste with all original Eddie Dow equipment. Specs are:Srm lower end , Carillo rods, Mondial forged 9-1 pistons, big valve head and Megacycle #2 fast road camshaft. Gearbox is ASC T and primary is Newby belt drive, alloy Central oil tank and original GS gas tank which came back from England with a dent in the tank unfortuanetly,John Tickle clamp on rearsets as there were no pillon loops on the scramblers.,Tomaselli clip ons, original Amal levers and  throttle ,Dunlop alloy rims and a rather unusual rear drum brake which I can still find very little info. about except that it was made for the BSA QD rear with an alloy drum and steel QD center and a bolt on rear sprocket and an alloy backing plate. So far no one has been able to ID it whether aftermarket or factory race part? It is a very well made piece and of very high quality. John made an 47 tooth alloy rear sprocket for it but it came with a steel  56 tooth sprocket and the brake was on a Goldstar catalina scrambler originally. It also has an original Feridax seat. The exhaust was an Eddie Dow accesory part. Also, a Lucas K2FR racing magneto. I will try to send pics if I can figure out how to do it,Richard

Wowsers- that one heck of a paragraph....may I be so bold as to ask if maybe you can 'modify' it and break it up  into more paragraphs so it's easier to read ? My eyes kinda went funny for a bit *help* and  *welcome*  (it may also should be in "introductions", but I'll stay outta that *smile*)

 Now about this brake;

It sounds like the one I erroneously had on mine initially after throwing it together from whatever I could find that fitted (or almost), discovered it's a (probably) post '65 A65/50 and maybe others *dunno*; not saying it IS one, but kinda fits the description "... 47T bolt-on sprocket (ten short 1/4" bolts?) I'll dig it out and post a pic later tomorrow.

Started building in about 1977/8 a on average '52 A10 -built from bits 'n pieces never resto intended -maybe 'personalised'
Have a '74 850T Moto Guzzi since '92-best thing I ever bought doesn't need a kickstart 'cos it bump starts sooooooooo(mostly) easy

OK, will keep it shorter next time. My apologies for that. I get a little passionate about this stuff sometimes. About the brake if you can figure out what it is that would be great. If its any help I puchased it on ebay about 7-8 years ago from a gentleman who sells under the handle "100 velo". The other note is that the restorer in England added the holes in the brake drum and also chrome plated the backing plate which is also aluminum like the drum. It looks similar to a B40 unit but is not the same from what I can tell.As far as being an A-65 piece I don't know but weren't all there rear brakes steel? I would have to look again but I don't think there's ten bolts?????I can post the original ebay pics and ad copy if this would help.  Just went downstairs to check and it has six bolts holding the sprocket to the drum.Thx, Richard

Also, note that the drum is not flat but seems to be scalloped if you look closely at the pic. I will try to post the pictures today maybee that will help.I am wondering if there's an ex dealer out there who might recognize it?
