BSA_54A10 I like your idea as I have made my own cables for some time now, but could you put some pictures on showing what you do as I have never heard of the pear idea or indeed what a pear is apart from eating them. Thanks.
Gees you blokes know how to make a fella feel redundant
Talk about quick off the blocks.
As for levers, those drums fit into standard levers not special ones.
Measure the distance from the pivot pin in the handle to the cable hole.
Levers come in a variety of sizes . You can use one that is too long for extra leverage but you can't use one that is too short.
I use standard drums drilled to fit the cable end in Triton's photo.
If you buy them as a set the drum should be predrilled otherwise you need to drill out the through hole to take the thin end of the nipple then the other end to take the thick bit and allow enough clearence for the cable to rotate.
Never seen those "goldie" slip on drums, although I do like the idea of the extra flange on the end.
