 :o *angry*

I just ordered a ton of stuff from barleycorn and it shipped!

So those will fit into the barrel receiver, then you can fit the ball ends correct?

BSA_54A10 I like your idea as I have made my own cables for some time now, but could you put some pictures on showing what you do as I have never heard of the pear idea or indeed what a pear is apart from eating them. Thanks.

Talk about quick off the blocks.

As for levers, those drums fit into standard levers not special ones.
Measure the distance from the pivot pin in the handle to the cable hole.
Levers come in a variety of sizes . You can use one that is too long for extra leverage but you can't use one that is too short.
I use standard drums drilled to fit the cable end in Triton's photo.
If you buy them as a set the drum should be predrilled otherwise you need to drill out the through hole to take the thin end of the nipple then the other end to take the thick bit and allow enough clearence for the cable to rotate.
Never seen those "goldie" slip on drums, although I do like the idea of the extra flange on the end.

Sorry but I still do not see how that fits into the  handlebar lever.

BB, the big barrel nipple that fits in the handlebar lever has a larger hole to accept the pear nipple that is soldered to the cable. The pear nipple and cable can turn in the barrel to relieve stress in the cable.

John

I bought three of those style barrels  from Lightning Spares about five years ago, but haven't used one yet because the hole for actual cable ends is about 7/5 mm dia. and the fat bit about 1/4" long, they're hard to find so may need to make/modify something.

My Gutzzi uses similar, but longer and they only used them I think on the 750 Sport and 850T (like mine)
Started building in about 1977/8 a on average '52 A10 -built from bits 'n pieces never resto intended -maybe 'personalised'
Have a '74 850T Moto Guzzi since '92-best thing I ever bought doesn't need a kickstart 'cos it bump starts sooooooooo(mostly) easy

Ha - talking of Guzzis Dutch, and indeed your signature line, I was left in that position just last weekend. Riding the Veefer up into N Wales for the Dragon Rally. Stopped in an uphill layby on the A14 to take a leak and then found I had no indicators and perhaps more importantly no starter. Ended up pushing to the top of the layby, three point turning and then bump starting downhill into the flow of traffic. Went well enough. Unstrapped the luggage at the next services and found a dead fuse in the fuse box box under the seat.
