Another parts supplier closing down
« on: 30.01. 2017 11:00 »
Today I learned that Lyford classics are to cease trading in March. So, in pretty short order that’s three classic bike parts suppliers that have decided to shut up shop. Lightning Spares, Supreme, and now Lyford. Age demographics I suppose. It is a bit of a worrying trend although  not entirely unexpected I suppose. Both us Brit bike owners, and those engaged in the business of supplying our bits and pieces are all growing older together it is probably inevitable that this will happen. I just hope that this trend does not gather to much momentum.

One old time shop down here closed a few years back. Now he only does mail/internet orders from home.
With more and more people using the net to shop there's more and more empty shops.

According to Old Bike Mart, 'Supreme' has just been bought out by Draganfly. Supreme were mainly Triumph but it is an indication of a general contraction of services.

Didn't DF buy up Lightning spares?
Interesting comments on spares supplies, it's a very limited market. IMHO the business that survives is the one that looks after it's customers. I know of two that are my very last choice

It's a shame Lyford is closing, that explains why they shut down their website and only selling through eBay. Bought more than a few items from them in the last 5 years, the last being the twin clock bracket with stainless hardware (great quality) in November last year.
Draganfly is starting to monopolize, don't like their service and the parts they sell are not to the most desired quality.

G'day all.
I wonder if DG read this thread (and others on the net) and see the critique their getting  *doubt*. They might look at quality over price  *bright idea*. And what ever happened to manners  *dunno*  *????*

If you do buy parts from DF, DO NOT backorder parts.  *eek*

During my bike rebuild I spent a LOT of money at Draganfly with no real problems. I had quite a bit of stuff I didn't use or was incorrect so I took it back and was given a welcome and a refund with no arguments.

LCS were one of my favourite suppliers; Very quick to respond and ship, and quality parts.

Draganfly are my other favourite; I have a shed full of BSA's and Ariels and have been dealing with Draganfly for a long time; I give them a big tick!

Yeah I never had a single thing turn up from those guys that was on back order. Weird.
