Sorry for my ignorance.  I am trying to obtain a Print/Model of a BSA Golden Flash 1958 and I keep coming across BSA A10 - is A10 a Golden Flash?

Regards
Karen

Hello there,

A Golden Flash is an A10. But its a version of an A10. Not all A10s are Golden Flashes.

Iain

Yes Karen... This is the model number as the bike has a 650cc engine. The A7 is a 500cc engine and sometimes known as a Shooting Star. Have you any idea of the colour of the bike your Partners Father had? Was it a Golden Beige, black, red, or blue even?

Good Luck in your search!

Perhaps someone here with a '58 is handy with a camera?
maybe the BSA owners Club could help from their library?

Try contacting the editor of "The Star" BSAOC magazine.

http://www.bsaownersclub.co.uk/officers.html#editor

or the club librarian. If they don't have a picture of one, they could maybe put an appeal in the magazine for owners to send one. You never know your partners dads bike may still even exist. Now that would be a great present *smiley4*
Cheers,
Iain

Thankyou, you are all extremely helpful.  In reply to one questions I think his dad's bike was beige.

Its a minefield and I am wondering if i should have just gone for a box of chocolates!!!

Thanks again.  I will keep on with my search.

Sorry to ask again but I have found a print of a BSA A10 Golden Flash 1962 - would there be much difference to look at???

Regards
Karen (pulling my hair out!!)

Hei Karen,
You could contact Nick Ward and comission an original illustration of one. It might not be that expensive.

Thanks for the Nick Ward contact.  I have rang him and unfortunately he said that he wouldnt be able to help me out with this.

Chocolates as a present is definitely looking to be favorite!

From a print, would you be able to tell much difference between the A10 1958 and 1962??

Thanks again.

Karen,

Here is an image of a 1958 Golden Flash. I am fairly confident that it is accurate, considering the source: http://gpwcew.com/bikes/literature/

I think, with this as a stencil, of sorts, you could go to a "grahic arts" artist who could use this as the model or just paint over it to make it an original painting.

Karen and 69bonnie,

I'm rather certain the year of the bike in the print for sale is '55 or early '56, based on the left-pull brake, wheel hubs and deep valenced front mudguard. Nevertheless, it looks like a beautiful print, though, portrayed from the less popular left side, forgoing the trademark tri-corner timing cover and separate gearbox.

Hi Karen, Manosound,

Looks about right .... but the handlebars look like the US export type UK bars were normally flat (Ish).

High bars being a typical sign of an Export model
