thats interesting. using your RBA's inflation calculator: http://www.rba.gov.au/calculator/annualPreDecimal.html
a 1957 road rocket, at 410 pounds 15 shillings is equivalent in 2016 money to A$12,449.
that's pretty much the same price as a new bike now. I thought they would have been comparatively heaps more back then, as in less affordable.
and my B33 only A$10k! I might get a couple

Here in the UK the prices were a lot cheaper I have a Motorcycle News from September 1957  which has the road test for the Dandy which could be bought new including purchase tax for a little over £79 the Gold Flash could be bought new for £255.

And as Split Enz sung, taken "six months on a leaky boat" to get here! No mention of my A7SS.

£255 UK in 1957 is about £5,544 in today's money (source: https://www.measuringworth.com/calculators/ppoweruk/). affordable stylish motoring!

Don't forget in the UK more things were classed as "extras" dual seat ,pillion pegs ,rev counter etc so with these the price would be higher.

I find it interesting to look at some of these old prices and adverts. In the same magazine in the Situations Vacant there is an advert for Dispatch Rider  for a motor cycle combination for theCentral Electricity Authority in London Salary £9-11shillings for a 44hour 5-1/2 day week.
