Hello, l thought l would introduce myself, have just purchased a complete (nearly) 1961 SR American spec, looking to restore it over the couple of years and hopefully will be asking questions / seeking advice in the future.

Welcome; don't forget to add to flag your generic location, it may assist you in networking with locals, not that we limit support by region.
Nice bike the American spec super rocket, both east and west coast variants!
We look forward to seeing some pics, I've found the forum a good place to record my projects from as found, through to their various trials.

Hi Kalvin, welcome!

I see the formula n+1 works for you! I wonder what your +1 will be next time?

Welcome Kalvin

I purchased a US West Coast Type 1963 Super Rocket out of Texas about a year ago. It was originally sold by Hap Alzina and spent most of it's life in California.
Which style is your bike, east or west coast?
I don't think much changed between 61 and 63.

They don't have full specs on the 63 but think it's very little changed from the 62. The 62 has a surprising number of internal details upgraded from 61 given that the unit bikes were in the works.

Hi Glen,
I am not sure if it is an east or west coast spec, at the moment it has a rgs or catalina tank on.
Have joined the BSA owners club - so will be requesting a dating certificate asap.
It has the full valanced chrome mudguards which are in remarkably good condition, serial numbers seem correct for a 61 SR, the hand painted in yellow "made in England " is still visible below the headstock.
I have budget another 4K for the restoration.

Cheddleton eh ?

We used to burn up that way in the late 70's  from Rugeley to the Highwayman Pub in Cheadle

Is it still there ?
