Rain held off in the morning even if it was a tad chilly for tweed. Went early and got back just before the heavy rain by cutting my ride short. Managed to sort a legal number of riders out of Bristol into a quick procession. Great fun and i had to take the lead at one point which was a bit silly as i was unsure of where i was going! Nice mix of bikes. This ride always important to me, wish my friend could be there to share it.
Been playing with jets in the carb recently. Have returned to original settings and bike has got itself into a mood and plays hard to start now. You got to love it!

Melbourne riders were greeted in the morning with a chilly 4Cel  as the day went on it warmed up to a beaut 20Cel & blue skys, 474 officially registered riders turned up at the meeting point, but I suspect there was quite a few more that just showed up on the day.. we set off to ride in formation through the city, but were split up due to stop lights & city stop go traffic,  We stopped along the way for the group to reform, & I rode for a good Klm past parked bikes & there was still more behind me. LOTS of Jappers, Harleys, BMW's, NEW Triumphs, & Indian Enfields, mine was the only BSA.. It was a great turn out & opportunity to catch up with old mates & to make new friends.. Back home I discovered my cone type air filter had fallen off...   BUGGA..    anyway here is just a couple of pics of the day...  WELL DONE to the organizers & ALL for attending & supporting this great cause..

Absolutely hosed it down for most of my solo ride. All going well though until about the 50 mile point when one cylinder stopped firing. Managed to limp on as far as the one spot of civilisation out in the wilds - a hotel and restaurant. Turned out that the head had come off an exhaust valve (not uncommon back in the day) so it was call out the recovery. Ho hum.

OUCH..      so do you have emergency phone boxes out in the country???

Did the AA bloke arrive thinking he'd be able to get you going? Their preference is to fix on site rather than transport home.

By the way, I love that motorcycle and those pictures are great 👍

Nice pics. Glad you were able to get out on the day. For myself, could not sort my clutch problem in time. In what is now seeming an overabundance of cuation, Chicago was "Ride Solo,"  so, once the bike is fixed, I'll just pick a day to imagine I'm doing the DGR.

G'day Fellas.
My local ride was a solo so rode up to a mates place at Bathurst. It was still foggy and frosty at 9am so went up the highway. Had a few cleansing ales till it warmed up a bit and took the back way home via O'Connell pub, Tarana pub, Sodwalls (no pub). Parts of the road never gets sun in winter so some corners were tricky with wet leaves. Met a mate at Tarana so it was a race back to Lithgow. Guess who won?

"so do you have emergency phone boxes out in the country???" Not any more. That one is non-functional and maintained as an attraction and photo opportunity. The Cappercheugh box. A shame as I still have my key from when they still worked.

Today the weather here is great so I took off for my DGR. I covered 100 miles, mostly through beautiful scenery including the Malvern Hills. There are still swathes of Bluebells around and some meadows are covered in bright yellow buttercups.

The bike hums along at 50.

The new Mitas tyres are good. Not having a squared off Avon on the back makes cornering feel so much safer.

I saw a Buzzard chasing a Red Kite out of its airspace.

Most other bikers wave, nod or shake a leg when they see me coming. Nice. 👍

I found my Dapper cloths from last time which had got wet and muddy and for some reason I never cleaned or dried them properly, they are in the bin. So in normal gear and on a normal Tuesday night ride I considered my DGR done. It rained again and I got wet again but this time all the cloth have been cleaned and dried 
Lets hope for a sunny one next time

Did my solo DGR ride today on the first real sunny day... Still running in the new pistons and new rings, so only a short round trip of app. 50 miles. She is running fine, hope this will continue, just need to sort a leaking fork oil seal, but that will have to wait
