G'day Richard.
I just spent half an hour going round in circles trying. Bugger it I'll just show up at the Sydney ride.
I'd be inclined to fit the shims & bearing (with the loctite) and also fit the spacer, sleeve and nut done up while its out of the cases till the loctite goes off. Then assemble as normal.

Just been back on their web site myself - it's really not great. I'm on the Cambridge (UK) ride but can't tell if I'm signed up to a team or not. Still hoping to run the Nimbus out there, though I wasn't sure the clutch wasn't slipping when I was out and about Thursday evening. I'll likely not ride if it's wet, though I think the forecast is set for dry OK.

Is there anyone here doing the Cambridge ride?

I found your personal entry on the DGR site and it does not appear that you have joined a team. After you are logged in to the DGR site, search (at upper right) for "A7". The two forum teams will appear at the bottom of the list. Choose the one you want to join and go to the bottom where it says "Ride With Us". That should do it.

Many thanks - I think I've managed it now. The web site seems quite difficult to use, though to be fair they do use me here in the office to check things really are fool proof.

Am going to be the the only member on the Cambridge run, albeit on a Nimbus?

I guess my repair work is staying here for now because it may be more of a story of me being done in time for the DGR than it is a technical issue.

Shims stacked, Loctite applied on the inner race and all clamped and curing under a halogen lamp.

Could you let me know the thickness of a solid shim that would (maybe) cure your problem?
I should be able to machine up something and grind to the final size needed
Once you have a solid shim it probably wont be needed

Thanks for the very kind offer. I've opted to go with the stack for expedience. Additionally, I think my process for clamping and curing the Loctite should be a lot better than last time I did this (thank you, Muskrat). Finally, I plan to throw a bit more than 65 ft. lb. (like 70) on the cush nut. Should I beware of 70?

Bugga, bugga, bugga work has got in the road of my ride to Sydney so now it looks like the Nowra ride is the one I'll attend.
Any Kiwi's riding? NZ will be the 1st to set off, then the Aussies.

Well, the Nowra ride will be about twice as long (which I think is good) through some real nice countryside and less congested by about 700 bikes. Though, it would be cool to be in the pack crossing the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

I know about a pack crossing the coat hanger. Back in the 70's the gumbient introduced a toll for motorbikes (previously free). About 1000 bikes turned up. Each bike stopped to pay the toll. Stopped the bike, took off the gloves, produced a $50 for the (I think ) 5 cent toll, put change in pocket, put on gloves, started bike and rode off. Followed 999 times. They dropped the toll.
The Nowra ride is along a route I travel often. Hope they keep up!!

SHE BREACHES!!! We're on for DGR. I can't believe I did a strip-down to replace shims and got everything reassembled Saturday to Saturday (not full time,of course) I know, some here can do it in a casual afternoon, but this is definitely a record for me. This would usually be two months over winter. The DGR was a big motivator that I've been looking forward to. Very glad several forum members signed up for their local rides, but wish we could have had a lot more.

As for the results of the shim fix, definitely less vibration. Started first kick. Whew!

Well done GB looking very smart, Richard bloody marvellous effort here in Liverpool its 50/50 for rain so I'm in my normal gear but with shirt and tie!ride safe Bob
