Alloy clutch basket issue

Bought an aluminum clutch basket and discovered the bearing race is only 2/3 to 1/2 the width of the original . Looks like a special single bearing may be needed? Anyone here have one or installed one of these ?  If so any info would be appreciated .   May have to go back to original .

The BSA 6 spring clutch part number is 42-3054  which uses the 2 rows of ball bearings
the one you bought I THINK may be for a 4 spring clutch with the roller bearings?

 yeabutyeabut... yea can still use it if you get the rest of it; may not be the most economical way t do it, but from all accounts a better arrangement (I had a  '58 RR with 6 spring and it was a bitch)
 I'm sure others will add in, it's out of my realm

The early 6 spring, like on my plunger has one set of rollers [/pedant]

 I would get a hold of lowbrow, and ask them what is up. I have not bought from them, but buddies tell me they often have to call to get some more information from them.

 It might just be that they know exactly which bearing you need.

Looking at the Lowbrow site, they are showing the rollers right next to the basket.

I have a question. Will an alloy sprocket hold up for any length of time?

G'day Richard. It should last, bathed in oil. I have an alloy rear sprocket on the cafe, has outlasted 2 chains so far. I'd be more worried about the clutch plate tabs wearing the basket.

I am using this chainwheel with a 3-spring clutch. I have used it for 5000 miles and there are no problems with wear yet.

How many frictions discs and plates do you run in a 3 spring setup?

It is a 7 plate from Surflex.
