The tank on my Flash was badly dented about 18 months ago when the bike fell over or was nudged.
The first idiot who had a go at it via the insurance company made a hell of a mess of it and most of the thread on the tank were corroded out. One of the badge holes was not only stripped but was in the wrong place!
The current repairer is not confident that he can repair it and wants to supply an Indian tank but I won't have a bar of it.
The issue is complicated, I wanted to have the work done privately initially by a mate but the insurance mob didn't like that idea and went for the cheap option.
Now the first repair has a lifetime guarantee so it's all up to the company to get it fixed but they won't let an "amateur" do the job.
So, I need a tank in repairable chromable condition. Four gallon.
This exercise has the potential to cost the company more than double my original quote seeing as they have already paid the first idiot.

Trev.

I have a spare tank that I have just taken off an 1956 A7 which is solid, but I think that the cost of sending it to you would not  make it viable but pm me if you think it is.

G'day Trev. If you just need a tank to keep you going while you find the right one. I have the original 57 A7SS tank (rough) you can borrow. We could meet half way.
Cheers

I have a spare tank which will go on the bike at some time but I need another to be brought back to original condition via the insurance company.
Mine could be repaired by a mate but as he is not a "professional" it's no go.
The spare is pretty well battered but with a bit of bog and sweat it will do the job.
Thanks for the offers fellows.
I will PM you TT John.

Best option is a genuine tank from anywhere on the planet.
But I have heard good reports about sourcing Indian tanks via Burton Bike Bits so that they do the QA and you don't end up with junk like I've received off fleabay direct ex India.
I've had three tanks locally panel beaten, not cheap but keeps it genuine

 Trev,

I may have one also, it needs a good beating. *ex*

If you can't source one, I'll send pics to confirm its what you need. It's a 4 gallon and I am in the States.

Thanks Lee, I am waiting on shipping costs from TT John for a tank that he has.
Hopefully the insurance company will pick up the tab for this exercise.

Trev. I have been very busy doing bits & bobs and have not had time to get you any costs as yet but I have a Indian tank that I bought from Pummy on flee bay, for my 1956 A7 s/a, he wanted £250 or offers so I stuck to my guns and got it for £200 inclusive of p+p the quality is very good painted and chromed, badged with knee pads, fitted straight on to my A7 with no problem, just had to tap out the threads on it as there was a load of crap in them, I really think you should try this chap, it would be a lot less than I would have to charge you but if your still interested, let me know.

Kind regards TTJohn

Thanks to TTJohn and Coater87 who kindly offered tanks to me. Unfortunately they didn't have the correct type.
I have attached a picture of the one that I need. This one belongs to a friend who has a '54 in many pieces.
Anyone?

As a matter of interest, the tank badge is an original untouched one.

Just had a look in the shed Trev, but no luck. One has the round badge indentation and the other is B40 (taps in wrong spot)
