A10 376 Carby to Air Box.

Am restoring a 1953 Golden Flash, it has a 376 carby fitted ( not standard I believe ), is presently not connected to the Air Box.

Does the carby require the 376/066 Bellmouth to mount the Carby to the Air Cleaner Carby connector (rubber) 67-4596

Josh, the bell mouth is not used with an air cleaner. Normally, Monoblocs with air cleaners did not have a thread on the inlet side, it was plain and the rubber slipped over the stub and was secured with a spring garter. The 276 carby had a threaded sleeve which achieved the same result.
Before everyone jumps on my statement above, I am referring to the models with battery box mounted air cleaners.

Yes, it has a battery mounted air box and no thread on the carby body.

I dont want to be the deliverer of bad news but the monobloc has a larger thread (clamping area) than the 276 so I think you may have a lot of trouble finding a rubber that will fit the airbox and carby.

The plunger models are always a bit difficult in this area with the frame downtube being so close behind the carby.

Thanks Brian, I'll keep that in mind, if it comes to rebuild time and the rubber doesn't fit, I'll put on a Type 6.

Fishing the water ways of Perth is for the peasants, pretty much fished out, you need to go out wide or up north, going out in the boat, drinking rum, feeding the fish and telling lies, now thats more like it .

I'm hearing you, being my first restore I wanted any easy'ish one, some pictures members from here have sent me of their first restore, makes me blush with embarrassment.

Mine was not quite running ( took ten minutes of fiddling to make noise ), complete and registered.

With the intent of returning it to as near to new as possible ( excepting belt drive gen and solid state regulator ), the parts list so far is around the $2100 AUD mark, thats without even having cracked the engine open ( I feel the engine will be mostly OK).
