A10 Now on the Road
« on: 05.09. 2014 19:12 »
Hi

I finally got the A10 reasonably sorted, and went for a really enjoyable 50 mile ride this afternoon.
The trickiest problem was that the engine would only run with about 3/4 choke setting. The jet block in the Burlen Amal monobloc was loose in the carb. body, and the locking screw was not long enough to lock it in place. Once replaced with a longer screw, bingo, it runs properly. Has anyone else experienced this with these carbs.?
The non charging dynamo also started charging after about 5 miles.
This has the makings of a really good bike.

Great to hear Arthur, a few more short rides to shake the bugs out. I'm sure you'll be very pleased with her and any help needed is only a mouse click away.
Cheers

Nice on Arthur, the day I got mine back on the road, I went for short test ride up the hill (about 5 miles), but on the return, as all was well, decided to go right instead of left and did about a 30 mile blockie- no tools or anything, no probs. just couln't get the smile off my dial  *smile*

Re the jet block, I figured the screw is just a locating pin rather than a locking pin ,'cos on mine it doesn't engage tightly with the block, just goes in the slot and the block is held in place by the jet holder ....?
Mind you, it is on the rich side, and I've played around with jetting and ended up with a .105 needle jet..

......but before this becomes a carby thread......didn't mean that though to be more than the first short comment... *smile*
