Hi Renos,

Your problem can only be your dynamo, the regulator or part of the wiring.

Check out the website for Priory Magnetos Ltd.  A Google search for "Priory Magnetos" will show you where to find it.  When you get there click on where it says "Dynamo Repairs and Servicing" and when the next page opens up click on the second line down when it says "Dynamo Test".

Here you will find detailed information on how to test your dynamo when it is on the bike and you can also scroll down to the bottom where it shows you how to test your regulator.  It's all good information and easy to understand.  It must be easy to understand because I used it to sort out much the same problem on my bike and I'm useless with electrics.

Good luck,

Beezageezauk.

Renos,
When you tested the dynamo off the bike, which direction did you run it?  B31 dynamo must rotate clockwise viewed from the drive end.

Daft remark maybe, but did you paint the dynamo?
If so, it could be the paint isolating it from the engine so there's no earth?

Morris,
It should earth OK through the stud and nut on the drive end.
Could also be the regulator.
Or polarity.
