Newbie Vollegaaz
« on: 01.03. 2014 09:33 »
Hello everyone, i'm new to this forum so i tought a little introducing would be polite... *smiley4*

So, my name is David, living in Belgium, 45 years young, been riding for almost 30 years now, most of the time on Japanese bikes (sorry for that :-) and have been racing in several Belgian amateur-championchips, mostly endurance races. Stopped due to several injuries in 2007.
Since then, i spend more time in my garage building bikes, and now and then something special enters the building.

So, now i have a BSA in the garage, it's a 500 A7 but with rigid frame, i have been told this model was only one year in production, but thats for me to find out. So before i start the resto, i'm surfing the internet for all the info i can get.
It's a real barnfind, so i would like to keep the looks like it is now, but the technical side has to be perfect, or as good as can be.
I wil post some pictures as soon as my daughter returns from vacation, she stole my camera :-)

can i stay?

 *smiley4*

Typical! First they say it's for free, and once they got you on the hook, they make you pay.
You sure you ain't no banker Musky? *smile* *smile*

Hi Vollegaaz, nice to have another fellow countryman aboard *welcome*
Great choice of nickname (for those who ain't familiar with the Flemish dialect, it means as much as "Flat-out", so bound to make some friends here....)
No need to be ashamed of riding a japanese bike, When I was young, I was all crazy about the Kawasaki H2 750 two stroke triple.
I am not actually looking for one, but if I came across one now, I'd buy.

What's your whereabouts? I am in the near of Mechelen/Antwerp.

Hi there Vollegazz, (don't be surprised if I sometimes call you Gazz!),  *welcome*.

I'm all that clued up on early A7's (longstroke), but if yours has a speedo in the tank, it's likely one of the first- '46 I think, but am not sure if the speedo-in tank continued to '47 also.
Good luck, I'm sure you'll find lots of help.

                               cheers, duTch

I live in Putte, so that makes about 20 km between us.
Both my A10's are out of order for the moment, but as soon as one of them is running again, I'll let you know. Then we can get together for a chat and a *beer*
Looking forward to the pictures.

Looks like you got an excellent starting point to restore this rare classic.

Looks like you're a lucky man.
According to my Roy Bacon, frame prefix XA7 and the speedo in tank puts it right in the first year of production, starting September 1946
Congratulations!
