Chaterlea, thanks for the info on how to check the float level, didn't know that. As the needle in the float bowl only has 1 groove in it, I assume it is not able to be adjusted without making a new groove in the needle stem.

Muskrat, your "pinched nerve" comment did make me smile, certainly a worn body is the culprit there.

HI Clive,
The spring clip on the float can be tweaked which will alter the fuel height
It gets distorted over the years  *sad2*
