« on: 07.12. 2008 21:06 »
I have a problem with the l/h downpipe discolouring (blueing)
I have a single carb fitted . The plugs look ok, runs  great,
Is there a simple answer to this problem.Thanks..

Hmmmm sounds very much like an induction bias problem... the left hand bluing pipe is very hot/lean mixure while the right hand pipe is running correctly. Check the port by removing air filter and opening the throttle,  putting a mirror next to the inlet of carb and seeing if there is any obstruction, just a small amount of exposed gasket is enough to divert more mixture to the right side and starving the left side. Failing that you may need to get or make a special gasket that would lean the carb slightly to the left cylinder.

Hope this helps!  *smile*

Oh.. and there are posts discussing the induction bias problem...

LJ's advice is sound and i would  look at that AND if both plugs are the same burn wise - blue usually does mean a lean burn

- that being said i once was wondering the same thing about some pipes i had on my norton a while ago and  was told not to have to much worry if the plugs were burning correct (esp for a single carb bike)  as  the chrome quality was inconsistent from pipe to pipe manufacturing and it could be as simple as that
