gearbox fitting

Hi, Can someone please tell me if you can change the gearbox without taking the engine out of a A10 swinging arm? cheers.

YES you can Tone and quite easily, why wassup with it?

I think the mainshaft must be bent, when you turn the engine over the clutch cage spins wobble!

Since you will need to remove the clutch basket in any case, perhaps the first thing to check is the possible loss of some ball bearings from the flimsy cages they are in where the basket meets the shaft. Haphazard assembly could easily allow some of these to fall out when fitting.

Having said that, I am anxious to hear if those here with lifelong A10 experience will validate my thought.

Richard, The bearings are o.k. as I've just put new clutch plates in.

Oops, no offense. I assumed a previous owner or other mechanic had assembled the clutch.
