A7 "Shooting Star" air filter (optional sports type) ?

The attached pic from my  1960 - 63 parts book shows part # 1 46 65 9271 A7 SS  Air Filter.

No mention of the word "sport" in the description but it does look a bit sportier than the standard air filter box

Could this be what you look for ?

It is a standard "inverted offset pill box "
You get an adapter ring to screw onto the end of the carb then fit a Spitfire or firebird one.
The originals screwed directly onto the carb then automatically unscrewed falling off as you were going over a bridge or turning across a 4 lane motorway.
I glue the adapter on to the carb and the filter onto the adapter then undo the side screen to change the element.

I am trying to source one & am minded to fit a grub-screw to prevent that happening to Me !

Hi all,

Scotty, does the 60-63 parts list give carb jet sizes for use with the air filter. The 59 list does not mention an air filter but does list standard jet sizes. I ask because I would like to fit an air filter but with a freshly rebored engine i don't want to do full throttle runs to determine carb settings.

A picture of the current set up is on a thread about fitting a concentric carb about a month or so ago

I scanned page 9 of my 60-63 parts manual. Here You can see carb settings. Main jet is 210 with air filter, 270 without.
