Looking for an RGS headlight bracket.
« on: 13.01. 2013 02:57 »
I like the look of the RGS headlight bracket - anyone have a spare?  The one with the double arms on each side of the headlight.

Thanks,

Steve

Hi,
I believe they're available new, for not much, from various suppliers. Cake St Classics may be a good starting point.

Burtons do them for £55 unpainted, http://britishbikebits.com/headlamp-bracket-stays-bsa-dbd-goldstar#.UPLWh29GeIE

They go for about the same with postage from classic bike shop on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BSA-DBD34-GOLDSTAR-A10-ROCKET-GOLDSTAR-HEADLAMP-BRACKET-/390524007778
but the bracket clamps look thinner metal

George Prew has them too and they look substantial   http://www.goldstar-rgs-gp.co.uk/Parts.html .

Thanks guys - think I'll move to the UK.  The amount of parts and resources is amazing.

If I install this type of headlight bracket, it looks like it exposes the tops of the fork tubes?  And where would I find the sheetmetal covers that take the place of the rubber gaiters?

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve,
I would think the supliers mentioned already would have the shrouds needed or you could try "domiracer" in the USA
Heres a little known item about BSA forks for Gold stars and RGS models
"Normal" BSA stanchions (legs) are tapered between the fork yokes and its almost impossible to keep the clip ons and headlamp brackets secure  *problem*

Autocycle Engineering in Birmingham supply hard chromed stanchions which are parallel between the yokes, these prevent the problems arising  *smile*
and look great too  *smile*

Cheers

Hey John,

The stanchions you mention still have that taper only at the top yoke?

Maybe a hidden set screw tapped into the top clamp would secure them to the stanchions?

I will look up Autocycle's web address.

Thanks,

Steve
