Wanted Idler pinion A7
« on: 25.11. 2012 23:24 »
Does anyone have an idler pinion with shaft as my thread has gone and the dynamo drive sprocket keeps slipping or the shaft alone if that's easier. I am not sure how easy the pinion and shaft separate but I guess a hammer will do it  ;). Its a pre unit A7 1957 engine.
thanks Andy(UK)

Hi Andy. a little heat also helps, not difficult to move the pinion on the shaft but it's key'd on so my guess is if anything is slipping it will be the dynamo sprocket on the taper.

Draganfly list the idler assembly (shaft and pinion ) and it comes up with a price - go here http://www.draganfly.co.uk/shop/pi1181835234.htm?categoryId=661

P&P to add and can't for the life of me remember if Draganfly price includes vat
also to be had on Ebay now and then

A good option to consider when your in the timing case is a dynamo belt drive if funds allow

The threads are knackered allowing the sprocket to loosen. I have temp fixed by using the old nut and cleaning up the taper which was a little tired. I had a belt but since I converted to 12 volt dynamo I have gone back to the chain as it puts less strain on the bearings(and there is no need to speed it up) but I still have it as a back up.

Hoorah got one. The pinion looks a little rusty in the pic, did I read the spindle and pinion are fairly easy to separate.
thanks Andy
