Ya' know, all of the beers mentioned here taste better if drank with green curry.

"courage ,takes courage to drink it "
Hey Bob,You summed that up- 'Courage Bitter' was one of those that I had to endure in the '78 Beer-strike days,
Wozza, I think that's my colour scheme, I'll have two jars of that!

Richard- I gave my story about that, but had it deleted, caused a ruckus, and got you your own thread-> corners !
Also have to question 'drank with' / 'drunk with' / how about 'consumed with', though in reality I think 'drunk enough to..' works better *smile*
Started building in about 1977/8 a on average '52 A10 -built from bits 'n pieces never resto intended -maybe 'personalised'

bob,

Believe it or not, I actually tried to find the correct word before writing "drank" but couldn't settle. Now that you've forced my hand, I looked it up again and found that "drunk" fits the present simple passive tense in this case. Now, I'm going to drink the beer in front of me before my dinner is present. It will be simple and passive  but it will not be green curry.

Yes, I like simple, passive beer drawn from a wooden cask using a hand pump  *beer*

Used to be a pub about 8 miles from me that I often visited in my youth that didn't even have the pump, beer was drawn from the barrel by gravity into a big jug ( from memory probably a gallon) and then poured into pint glasses, always had a good head and taste was pretty good

Hi Bill, up to 4 yrs ago a bikers pub in Lydiate just outside Maghull called "the Scotch piper" sold beer in the same way, didn't have a bar just a doorway that they served you through ,it's the oldest pub in what was Lancashire  and still very oldie worldie.
All these posts reminded me of an article I read from Alan Corren late editor of Punch, in it he summed up peoples attitude to beer and alcohol  with this " the world is divided into two quite seperate  groups  ,the first believe a single drop will lead to eternal damanation and the other ... who order by the grateful "  Best wishes BobH.

Now, I reckon all beer is good  *beer* but my preference is for a uk style draft real ale, I've lived in new Zealand for over 12 years now and In this country of highly chilled lagers (albeit some are dark and sort of flavoured like bitters etc) I found my first "proper" draft real ale last week in a Wellington pub, not chilled and not gassed.

Cost a fortune but jeez it was good  wink2

A bottle of London Pride (slightly gassed) costs $7.5 here (3.75 pounds) which is the other option and close to a real ale, but a luxury for us poor impoverished kiwis  *dunno2*

I'm sipping a cheepo nz  beer right now after an evening spent filing bits off a 6 spring Clutch in what what will probably be a futile attempt to get it to work properly, all I can say about that is there is nothing wrong with something that drives a bloke to having a beer.
