Interesting project!  Shame he isn't going the ally route already as it would save me a lot of hassle if he did  *smile* *smile*

Regards,
Julian

Just had an email, they are planning to do alloy barrels AND their iron barrels are capable of being taken out to 78.5mm bores  *respect* *yeah* *yeah*
Time to start thinking about a big A10 motor!

Mmmm, there go's the new car  *conf*. Got the cases, crank, rods & cam on the shelf. Now to find a set of 78mm (gotta leave at least 1 rebore) slugs with the right crown/pin height. Might get 150mph  *eek* out of the old cafe yet.
Did he give a guesstamate on cost for the alloy ?
Cheers

You would have to be mighty careful with head studs and pushrod tunnel at this bore size!!  I thought 76mm would be about the sensible limit!
Would be happy to be proved wrong!  Will get the boring bar out then  *smile* *smile*
my 88mm stroke would give me 840cc  Wow!  would that be fun!

Muskrat,
Newly made one or two off pistons are far cheaper than you think!  Hardly worth the time looking in the books to find something to fit and even then wouldn't you rather have a nice forged piston?
