A good day with the BSA
« on: 31.08. 2012 12:13 »
After the engine rebuild went quite well I still had some niggling problems that were spoiling the bike

Sticking throttle cable

Pinking under load

Float valve sticking

bad rockerbox leak

harsh transmission caused by the clapped out rear hub bearing causing the sprocket to run out of true

Excessive noise form the tappets

You do all the work and just keep finding more problems! Anyway I addressed all this issues before I went away for break and had no time to actually test ride the bike. I needed a MOT test and decided to have it tested and go for a test run. To my utter delight all the fixes worked and the bike ran like a dream and it passed the MOT with no issues! After a long hard slog I feel I am finally geting somewhere and all the hassle and frustration seems worthwhile.

Cheers

There is no doubt that these old bikes can be very rewarding at times and at other times can be very frustrating, but that is what makes it all so interesting. have fun.
