Sliding Plate Clearance

I don't think I have ever seen the clearance specified for the reverse thread on the clutch to the sliding plate.   Does anyone have a factory spec for this.  All my sliding plates seem to have about a 1/16"+ gap.  Just how tight should it be?  Any enlightenment will be appreciated.  Thanks Ron B.

Original bolts are shouldered which sets the distance.

Sorry to not state more clearly my question.  What is the clearance between the rotating reverse thread on the clutch adapter and the sliding plate?  Yes  the shouldered are there to allow the plate to move.  Ron B.

I looked at your mail and struggled a bit but think I have it now, what you term the reverse threads is mostly called a "scroll". it's there to throw any oil on the adaptor back into the chain case, there are a number of these with the scroll going the wrong way so have a good look at it.
Clearance - I imagine it should be snug without rubbing too hard but have never heard any figures given for it

Hi Ron,
Nearly all the original plates are well worn as 1/16in in your case
The pattern ones are total crap and sometimes even worse than the old worn ones  
I repair the old ones by making a new bush which I braze to the old plate,
I have also unrivited the old sliding plate centres and made new ones with either a seal or quad ring
I make them 5to 10 thou bigger than the clutch sleeve

I had been running ATF which no matter what I did including this modification was always slung out over the left hand silencer. Someone pointed out that engine oil was a better option, advice followed and no more leaking !
Trouble is it's all got to come down again as I now have a dragging clutch due to a bad bit of setting up on my part !!!
