1955 A7 Barrel

Hi, I am looking for a thin flange big fin barrel for an A7 that is either on standard or +10 as I have a set of original +20 pistons that I want to use.

     I have a barrel that will take +60 but the only pistons that I can find to fit are JP which are 6.6:1 and I wanted to use the 7.25:1 as used originally.

     Would be better if the item was located in Australia as postage from the UK would be quite high I think.

     The other option is if somebody has a set of +60 7.25:1 pistons they would like to sell or swap for a set of +20s.

     This has all come about due to believing what people say on Ebay, I bought a set of barrels that were meant to be on standard, which sat while I         
     collected the other parts I needed and have just taken them to the engineering shop to find out that they need to go out to +60,  quite 
     annoying.

The a7 barrel I listed in the wanted section is still available, it's on STD.

I'm not sure what big fin means in respect a7 barrels, I think all thick flange a10 barrels are big fin? And all a7 barrels are thin flange?

But For the record the a7 barrel I have has smaller fins than my thick flange a10 barrel.

Hi KiwiGF,

You are right about all A7 barrels having the thin flange, but I require the A7 barrel with the same larger fins as your A10, I am not exactly sure when the A7 changed to the larger fin, but I am sure someone on the forum will let us know.

Hi Andy,
Why don't you consider having liners fitted to your barrel; then you can use the original pistons.

Hi Richard,

I have considered, and it will cost about $500 but I would be a bit of a waste as I would have to bore the new liner out to +20 and I think the liner will only bore to +40 so if I am not able to find a suitable barrel or pistons  I will go with the lower compression pistons.

I am not sure how much the lower compression 6.6:1 pistons would have rather than the 7.25:1 , anybody have an idea on this.
