Ewarts petrol tap filter replacement
« on: 20.05. 2012 22:31 »
Hi,

I'm busy refurbing two Ewarts push pull tpetrol taps. One of the gauze filters is missing and the other has collapsed.

Is it possible to replace the gauze or is ian inline filter the way ahead?

Anyone got any experience??

Cheers

Alan

Haven't done it myself but have been told you can solder the filters back on

I use an inline filter.

The gauzes get choked, causing an avoidable breakdown.

They are only soldered on so you could reinstate them, but as others have said the inline filters are good. The small plastic motorcycle ones are not too obtrusive when fitted into the fuel lines and they are cheap to buy so just replace them now and then.

I've replaced the gauze, not hard to do, but you need a soldering iron of 80watts or more to heat the tap up enough.
