Ammeter for 1961 A10

I'm a bit puzzled by the ammeter fitted to my 1961 Flash. It has the "streamlined" type headlamp (I believe this is sometimes known as "top hat & trousers"?). The ammeter fitted is a 1.5" item but it is mounted in a little plate (which seems well made, having a clean half-moon cutout for the speedo bezel) covering up a 2.25" diameter hole, which looks original. The plate is held to the headlamp shell by self tappers (which definitely do not look original). The ammeter is in the correct position to the left hand side of the headlamp shell.
I can't imagine the plate is original equipment but doubt whether a huge ammeter of the size implied by the hole in the headlight would be correct either.
Any suggestions?

Hello Ian, i have a pattern nacelle that i haven`t fitted as yet, i assume it`s been made right, hope the pic helps. By the way, the hole for the ammeter measures 1 5/8" .
cheers Rich.

It wasn't actually moved as far as I can see but is certainly bigger than flashblack's 1 5/8.
The other thing is that when I look closely I can see what look like the remains of 3 warning light holes in front of the speedo (quite well filled but visible). Perhaps this shell comes from an A65 or something?

Most likely A7/10. A65 has two switches.
Yours has just been modifies over the years. 1-5/8" ammeter is the correct fitment.

You can get 2" ammeters, maybe one of those would fit the hole in your nacelle. I know its not correct but might look better than the small plate you currently have.
