G'day all,
            well the A10 cafe had it's first breakdown at only 350 miles ! Prince of darkness had an apprentice in the PO. The home made bakelite brush holder or insulating plate let go. I should have known if it looks dodgy it is, and replaced it when I rebuilt it with new everything else !
So, does anyone have a good 2nd hand one for sale, or any ozzies have one I could BORROW to copy ?
Back to riding total loss electrics till fixed. The Boyer will last 100 miles on a 4 amp battery, 150 if I take out the brake light ! LOL

Hi Muskrat,
                    That part number is for the plate used with the pressed metal end, is that the one you are after?
I have an incomplete one that I haven't stripped yet. It has the two sockets and one brush box so would be good enough for a template.
If this good enough you can borrow it. These plates seem a bit light on the ground, I suppose that is reasonable as they were only used from 1958 and generators were becoming obsolete by then.
I make new plates from discs of tufnol usually but I would prefer a more user friendly material.

G'day Trev,
               Mine is a '57 and has the pressed metal end, I assume it's the same. I was going to look at my '51 but if I could borrow yours would save me pulling down a working unit. Is tufnol the green circuit board material ? I thought of making one out of that, I can't find bakelite anywhere.

G'day all,
            I have found a supplier of Tufnol in Oz, http://www.ceaco.com.au/tufnol.html and quite well priced at $15 per sq/ft 1/8" thick. I'm getting enough to make a few spares, so if anyone needs one give me a call.
British Cycle supply co in Canada has new ones for $66 AU landed.
