Beautiful bike Trev!
Here is my '54. The colour should be correct; I purchased a small tin from Polly Palmer who said it was a match to the BSA records, then matched it locally.
Here is my colour match and instructions, from a spreadsheet I prepared.

SIKKENS
AK20 - NOBEL (SPARTAN)-(WATTYL)

Subaru/Fuji paint code 60 (9986) MELLOW GOLD 1981 Grid 10322
Special mix: 2.0 grams 744 Black added to 1.0 litre
Notes:
1 No hardener to be used in the colour
2 AUTOCRYL Primer / Filler (3:1 mix with hardener; 300ml to 100 ml hardener) 3% Reducer if req'd
3 UROCRYL colour (1:1 with Reducer) No hardener
4 AUTOCLEAR 2000 (2:1 mix with hardener; 200 ml Auto Clear to 100 ml Hardener)
Plus 10% Reducer (not less than 5% Reducer; not more than 10% Reducer)
Fuel Tank Finish:
Chrome side panels, Polychromatic Beige (gold) on top. Red pin striping around chrome panels (2 stripes; inside stripe is thicker).
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
(A) Primer:
Apply three coats, and allow to set overnight.
Let each coat dry for five minutes. Coat thickness is to be to "flash off"[go dull].
Rub back with P180 sandpaper (dry).
Spray on another paint as a "guide coat", then rub back with grade 600 paper (wet).
(B) Colour:
Wet a rag with "Wax & Grease Remover", and wipe the primer coat.
Re-wipe with a dry rag.
Mix the colour to the formula.
Apply four evenly spread coats (not misted).
Wait 5 minutes between coats.
Wait 15 minutes before applying Clear.
Apply 2 coats of clear (as per instructions).
