On another forum somebody advised Super Rocket gearbox has different ratios to standard A10 and should be marked STD 2, I thought STD 2 denoted scrambler option.
Can anybody please clarify

Thanks Julian for your prompt and informative reply, looks like later 1962 models of Super Rocket had the STD 2, certainly mine is a 1960 and 99% sure gearbox is orginal and marked STD

I think that you will find that the STD2/STB2 box was fitted to the Big Valve Super Rocket which was mostly exported to America.

I think the modified gear ratios came on the 1962 season Super Rocket models. Below is what the factory sent UK dealers about improvements for the 1962 season in August 1961.

Whilst on gearbox markings, has anybody else come across a CA T2 marked gearbox. Looked original stamping and was fitted to our Dbd34. I can't find any info other than might be for Catalina bike.

Those letters are never in a straight line and you sort of feel that they must have been stamping them as they went by on a conveyor belt! Another thing I have noticed is that the âTâ looks like it has come from a different set and size of stamps than the other two! What is going on there?
