Hi Everyone, i am brand new to this forum, reason, i've just bought a very nice A7 1954. As for the electric, great idea (see http://www.a7a10.net/forum/index.php/topic,1468.0.html ) great expense,i'm 60 going on 61 i had a right knee replacement back in january, and still it wo'nt bend more than 65 degrees witha push, so i ca'nt get my right foot on the footpeg or start with my right leg,but on the stand the bike starts first time with my left leg. Now you ask how am i going to ride it, simple i've converted the gear change to a foot peg off the front engine mount with a remote rod to the gear lever which is now vertical. For quite some time i've been rideing my B175 bantam with a hand change, it's surprising what you can do if you really want to ride these bikes, on a small budget. I'm going on a bit, my kids reckon i'm a 60 year old,old fool but i love it.

(adm edit: presentation post moved from Electric Starter)

Ian,

Great to have you join us here in this friendly group. Your's is a great example of "where there's a will there's a way." If you are like the rest of us, there will be some burning questions that just don't have obvious answers ("What is the meaning of life?") for which you will find here generous responses working to be of help.

We look forward to pictures of your bike, as it sounds like a good one.

& a welcome to the forum, hope you will enjoy the place. Nice ingenuity with the starter modifications!

About moving your post, with subsequent replies one moves quite far away from the dedicated Electric Starter topic where it was originally posted, better you have your own topic.
