Rear mudguard bottom frame bracket

The bracket fits over the frame just fine, rear mudguard arrow stays and shock absorber bolts go through just fine.
Will have to get the spacers between frame and mudguard machined shorter (too long).

However, the bracket in question the bolts don’t even go through, too short and has a large gap between the mudguard and rubber pad.
I think my rubber pads are too thin and will have to order longer bolts.
The one in the pictures is a stainless one I had made some time ago, got the original at hand, original fits better but bolts still don’t go through.


Just dry/loose fitting everything before having everything painted, chromed and machined.

Is there suppose to be a rubber pad on both sides of the mudguard?

Rubber pad both side of mudguard
You can get them from usual suppliers
I just hacked up a couple up out of 1/4 inch belting

The more shock absorption the better with tinwear. The only problem is tightening the nuts the best way is a short tube in the middle that you can tighten up against. This is often not possible so a little locktite is good.

My Deauville uses washers with a collar all over the place. Obviously as worried about vibrations as I am with my BSA. I lost one and foolishly replaced it with a nut and bolt. The vibration caused one side of my number plate holder to break a costly error. I am more careful now.

The rubber pad goes between the frame rail and the mudguard. There is no rubber pad on the inside of the mudguard, just the stiffener plate which prevents the nut and washer distorting the mudguard. The purpose of the pad is to compensate for manufacturing variations amongst the mudguards and to assist in the prevention of cracking.
