Back brake spring makes escape bid

Had an issue with the back brake sticking on with the A7. When I got home I found the lever was moving fine but the wheel was still stiff stripped it down. In the,hopefully attached picture is what I found

The bits of melted aluminum is what's left of three of the four supports for the brake shoes. They stick out from the plate to position the shoes into the drum at the correct depth. Not anymore

I doubt you're feeling lucky but that could have been a lot worse. Any ideas what failed first? Are the spring retainers on the shoes?

Shoes are fine no damage somehow. Got a brake plate on its way and some new springs. Drum also fine, again don't know how.
