A health issue means I am reluctantly selling my A10.
My A10 was originally supplied by Chas E Cope & Sons Ltd, 159 Stafford St, Wolverhampton.
I have owned “Flash” since October 2016 since its previous 80 year-old owner decided to give up riding. It was ridden regularly throughout the year but much less so recently.
It is an older restoration in good condition. It has a new V5 and also the original buff logbook showing that it still has the original frame and engine. As an "historic" vehicle, the registration is non-transferable.
Current mileage is 51,439 but that may increase before sale.
The bike has the more desirable (to those in the know) rod-brake frame and wheels. Both wheels are QD.
Modifications include:
Upgrading the electrics from 6V to 12V to get some decent lights. The dynamo was upgraded by Priory Magnetos and a DVR2 solid state dynamo regulator and cut-out fitted. A new headlight (Wipac H4 with 45/40W QH bulb) was fitted along with an LED stop/tail light assembly – all bought from Paul Goff.
The A10 was proving hard to start and was prone to stalling so the magneto was also updated by Priory Magnetos and the bike now starts easily and runs smoothly.
The front brake was ineffective so new softer linings were fitted and, along with proper adjustment, the front brake can now actually stop the bike.
I found it difficult to adjust the original clutch so that it didn’t drag and, after a lot of faffing about, I gave up and replaced the whole assembly with an SRM unit. The clutch is now very light, doesn’t drag and it’s now possible to select neutral without stopping the engine. Excellent upgrade.
Folding kickstart fitted.
New battery.
The A10 has a steering lock with 2 keys and also a locking twist grip
Indicators fitted (for safety reasons) with a period handlebar switch. Easily removed to get the A10 back to original.
The previous owner was unable to get a properly fitting pair of exhaust header pipes so had some made up in stainless steel by a local fabricator. The exhaust looks good and sounds great - just like an old Brit twin should. He also fitted a new carb - a genuine Amal 376/1 Series Monobloc.
I have fitted a classic motorcycle stainless steel back rack.
The bike is not "mint" or "concourse" but is in good all round condition, please see photos.
The registration number is non-transferable.
Questions and viewings welcome (via prior appointment only)
The bike is located in Exeter, Devon, England.
Cash on collection or via bank transfer, will only remove from sale with a deposit. It is advertised elsewhere so this advert may be removed at any time.
