Short Bros. S.23 C class Empire Flying boat G-ADUY ‘Capella’ undergoing maintenance at Imperial Airways base at Hythe on Southampton Water. Note the fold-down panels on the wing leading edges which allowed engineers to work close to the engines and upper wing surfaces. Photo from my collection.

Similarly, I made one of these decades ago

All the best - Bill
1961 Flash - stock, reliable, steady, fantastic for shopping
1959 Rocket Gold Flash - blinged and tarted up  would have seizure if taken to  Tesco

I also made the Airfix Short Sunderland kit.👍 It was flippin enormous compared to the Hurrican's ME109's and Spitfire's I'd previously made.

Bought my grandson an Airfix Spitfire to build about three years ago, about fell down at the price and then he wasn't that interested, possibly because it had no paddles or buttons to press    *sad2*
