headlight rim bottom clip and spring
« on: 01.01. 2023 16:21 »
So the problem with good old XA7 280 is that I got it as a basket case and I've never seen an A7 or A10 in my life.  The reference books are pretty good for most of it and engine logic is engine logic.  But it's in the details that I really feel lonesome.  My M20 has a headlight that looks very '50s so it's no help.
I have the original 8" headlight housing and switch.  I bought an aftermarket ring.  The strange little bottom clip is still there but no spring and I wonder how they fit.  Basically, what does the spring look like?
And, by the way, Happy New Year.

If I understand what you're asking, the clip is shaped like a large letter "B". Never seen a bike as early as yours so I wouldn't know if this style of headlight is correct or not though. My '51 has the conventional top screw and clip arrangement on a 7" headlight.

Looks like it would work.  I'll try it.  Thanks.

I have one of those for my 47, the bucket has a bit of wire as a spring clip, the chrome rim is a very snug fit, and the T clip sits in OK and locks into the rim hole. I also have the B spring, but I don’t think it’s for my setup, as it’s too tight to put into the rim, and if you did (either way round)it does nix on the T clip.
8 inch light.
