Stelvio Pass - Stilfser Joch
« on: 29.11. 2022 22:28 »
Looking through some old papers came across that postcard from Stelvio Pass, where I had the great pleasure of driving my A10 when I was young (some 20+ years ago :O)

If ever doing, or planning to do, some bike trip in the region, if possible definitely put that pass on the intinerary, it's great+++  History > https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stelvio_Pass

Pictures, near the top, and the pass. It's on my A10 website, but had completely forgotten it.
And that funny picture from wikipedia, the giro d'italia over the pass 1965  *smile* *smile*

Wow, fantastic scenary. Well done for trusting your Plungie to that road. Did the altitude affect the running?

Was nice to be young(er?) and easily do so many things :O)
2700 m or so, can't remember thinking about any loss of power. The Yamaha 350 offroad I had, on the contrary, had suffocation problems above 1500 m, should have been a simple fix (fiddling with jets\air intake\air filter etc) but never figured out the cause.

Am appreciating the road (and railroad) builders of that bygone time, what a job they all did, the impossible always possible.
