Remember what the A in BSA stands for ?
BSA made most of ther profits by supplying stuff to the War Office
So naturally when they diversified they did so into industries that were strageic should WWIII break out
In fact if you look at the BSA boards decisions it becomes very apparent they were inded tooling up for the USA-Russia war that we all knew was about to happen at any moment
SO BSA Made radios, boilers , gun steel, tools ambullances, trucks, cars , motorcycles, metal pressings, pipe, aal things that become very necessary during hostilities .
At one time BSA also was going to make air craft and they bought a company AirCo to do just that post WWI
Unfortunately AirCo had pocketed all the money that the government had paid them fr supplying aircraft but not paid any of their suppliers thus it was worse than bankruped when BSA bought it
The entire BSA/Triump/Damiler/Carbodies/Jessops was by fa the UK's largest manufacturing enterprise by a very long way .
