just before I got married i was selling BSA/ tri bikes , an argument with the manager I was soon to replace as he was being promoted over \ a 7/6p pot of paint,he was annoyed cos he was on lunch and couldn't be contacted so I signed the chit for the paint ,led me to almost ram the paint tin down his throat and a temp change of career working for a broke /friend owner of a blasting company who had a massive contract with BR. So I ended up wprking on the railway using a jack hammer to bore holes for explosives , what a farce health and safety was, the oldest guy there who couldn't see more than 25 ft when we crossed the tracks (liverpool main to London first higher speed corner ) it was us seeing him across ! Have to say once you got into it the guys were great really helped us ,they were so used to moving heavy things without the right gear JCB's surprising what they can be overloaded to . Anyway after much fun being allowed to charge up and blow things up ,Keith wa sclass no big bangs but everything in moveable bits ,Garry the other partner was ex army and liked bangs , his explosions lead to serious cleaning up to avoid penalties from BR .
oh I got my money and Sue and I are married, 52 yrs this yr.
