1956 BSA A10 Road Rocket. It was purchased in many boxes and the previous owner had begun a restoration. Unfortunately, due to illness it had remained in pieces for years. During that time and numerous house moves various parts went missing. If only I had known what a challenge this restoration would have been I might have walked away. I didn't !. I sourced the missing pieces and began the resurrection of this fine BSA
From my collection of motorcycles this will be the last to be sold. The A10 Pre-Unit BSA is becoming more difficult to find. I have receipts for thousands of $ in parts alone. Receipts, parts list & workshop manual will be given to buyer.
The restoration/rebuild :- Gearbox rebuilt . Mainshaft , bushes, replaced where required. Clutch - New plates springs. Motor- Crank(large bearing) reground new shells main bearing and timing side bush replaced. Casings numbers match. Jugs re bored to +40 new pistons, rings and wrist pins. Cylinder head rebuilt new valves and guides. No missing fins. Wet sump valve fitted. Carb rebuilt. New pushrods. Magneto completely overhauled by Doug Wood. Wheels rebuilt with Stainless steel spokes. Most of the original fasteners have been CAD plated as per original. Some fasteners are Stainless steel fine thread. Rims are original 8 out of 10 with some minor surface imperfections. Paintwork is good but not perfect. Chrome on front fender, grab rail and gas tank is excellent. Chrome on rear fender and brackets has slight blooming. Paint on gas tank is not perfect. All lights work. Smith’s Chronometric Speedo is working. New handlebars switches. New TOGA exhausts and New mufflers from UK. New cables. Rubbers. Fork seal chrome covers have a slight ding where someone has tried to unscrew them with a non-factory tool.  Rear wheel sprocket has one slight chip on  1 tooth. Battery is dry cell inside a genuine Lucas rubber battery box. Polished hubs. Drive chain is new non o ring as original. Wiring has been completely redone using a high-quality loom. The Vintage Motorcycle Club have confirmed that the BSA was manufactured (engine and frame match records) and dispatched 12th January 1956 From Birmingham in the United Kingdom to Hap Alzina USA.
The motorcycle is believed to have originally resided in Alabama where titles are not issued for vehicles manufactured before 1980. Bill of Sale will be given. The BSA will require minor adjustments and care running in as I have only done a few shakedown miles since completing due to the lingering effects of Covid. Slight overnight oil weep from timing side cover. A new gasket should cure.

Love that super sexy skinny yank tank.
Always confuses me though, why fit a smaller tank for a country where you could empty the tank 4 times over between gas stations?? Apart from the obvious aesthetic.

Personally, I don't like the US tanks at all - they leave too much frame exposed and don't look as if they actually fit the bike - and, 2 gallon don't get yer very far !!
