Forks
« on: 29.03. 2022 20:24 »
Hi guys, I recently acquired a 1960 Super Rocket basket case, among other things the fork tubes and sliders were missing, I bought a set off Facebook that seemed right for the 8” cast iron fw hub, on stripping the forks they had two way damping so I guessed they were A65 parts, that was ok as they looked the same and the brake fitted ok, I sent the sliders off for powder coating and it wasn’t until I started to assemble the forks that I realised that the the upper mudguard bracket with the 2 holes was facing forward with the brake plate on the right, I’ve checked part lists and looked at photos and can’t find a BSA model with the brackets facing forward, does anyone know what these forks are off?,

Sounds like from a 1968 B25 or a B44.

The parts book illustration for the forks not the right ones.

Last photo my old Starfire but with a TLS brake.

Thanks, the one with the Tls looks the same as mine, I will have to look for a set of the correct sliders now and put these ones up for sale, at least I can describe them correctly now, has anyone got a set for sale or swap?

unless you need to be authentic with your build and these sliders are good units that suit the other parts ok (I'm unsure about your comment wrt the brake hub?) why change them? it may be better to just adapt the front guard mounting to suit these sliders??
Good, unadulterated sliders are hard to find these days....

Hi Jules, yes I think that might be the way to go, I just need to move the centre mount forward, a couple of bolts to fill the already drilled holes in the guard won’t look too bad
