prices on ebay
« on: 03.06. 2021 22:41 »
Hi All,
There was a thread recently that  I cannot find now about the price a BSA side stand made on eBay ?

Another stand finished up this evening making £264.99   *eek*
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/393343839202

A NOS Lucas reflector made £91.99   *conf2*
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254989778760

Will I ever be able to afford to complete my RGS restoration  *roll*

CJ Other items last week making unbelievable amounts were our old friend the Plunger Airbox. A single rare offering sold for £265 with no filter element and £15 postage. Two bidders pushed it from a starting price of £50.

Something else of interest were Repro Tank Badges in cast Aluminium offered at a starting price of just over £100.

Prices realised for basic common parts, nothing special and in plentiful supply, have been higher of late in my estimation, sellers starting auction listings at a higher price than earlier in the year. There are still the established sellers putting stuff on dirt cheap but here again interest pushes the price to levels that make little economic sense, the rules of supply and demand make it a sellers market for now.

This is my perception of what's going on at the moment. Strange times indeed.

 Swarfy.

hi john,
i had a indian copy swing arm b31 centrestand snap as i was putting it on the centrestand . i nearly lost the bike and caused a dented tank etc. but luckily only my good knee was slightly damaged. i was one of these people who didnt know any better but now after research would pay £200 for a well made drop forged centrestand and regard a die cast indian copy is worthless. the originals have a part number and there were some well made copies, made in england , but now thin on the ground.

edboy, I too would willingly pay a higher price for certifiably quality products, however experience has taught me that paying top dollar is not a reliable indicator of top quality. Sellers price items at what they think the market will bear irrespective of quality. Sadly buying parts is a complete lottery. The reality is that cheap and nasty parts abound and you have little or no way of knowing exactly what you are buying until it is to late.

i agree its easy to be caught out with modern reproductions. you also have to trust the word of the dealer that its well made. fortunately superior original bsa stands are identifiable by the cast in part numbers and casting joints and i believe this is the reason they fetch high prices. i did my research and would snap up any original stand withstanding my budget.
