Amazon etc
« on: 24.05. 2021 10:55 »
I buy stuff on Amazon all the time and occasionally eBay, (what alternatives are there?). In fact Amazon is my preferred retailer. If I am not happy, Amazon are excellent about refunds. 99% of items are ok and at a good price.

I recently bought from Amazon, two wall plug outlets with USB charging sockets included. In one of them, the USB sockets didn't work. I reported it to Amazon. A return was arranged. I took the item to a drop-off spot in a small local store. I didn't even need to wrap the item up, the shopkeeper put it in a returns bag for me. When I arrived home, my account had already been refunded the cost of the socket.

I don't really care about the likes of Amazon and Google gathering 'Big data'.

GB - I too have found them very helpful with returns, and I have also just installed one of those twin sockets with three USB slots from Amazon it works fine but just a word of warning to anyone buying one - the screws provided for fixing the socket to the box were too big, not a problem I just used the old screws and I also have a little bag of these (in case I lose a screw while tinkering).

Don't know if there is a different spec for screw size now or maybe abroad someplace

I recently purchased some flexible conduit supplied by an Amazon partner on usual next day delivery, it came with conduit fittings and clips, after using it I wanted some extra clips, so back onto Amazon but only available in 100 off.
Decided to contact supplier and enquire about another 10 off clips, reply by return saying they will send me some, and they arrived next day completely FOC, fantastic service.

Well, if you were a small retailer you would not want to get on the wrong side of Amazon would you.

I bought these. The screws hold a metal chassis in place in the wall. The front fascia clips on to the chassis.
