Orabandon 2020
« on: 09.12. 2020 05:51 »
Well Orabandon 2020 was held a few days ago.
A successful event again; 18 riders; 16 from the Vintage Motorcycle Club of Western Australia. We travelled to Kalgoorlie and also participated in the annual Christmas Toy Run.
There were two other Forum members present; "Gavin", and "Peter from Oz".
The second day of riding (in beautiful mid 20's temperature) took us to my home town of Ora Banda.

In 1951 my father posed on his new Golden Flash on the flat out the front of our homestead; see pic below.

I re-enacted the occasion; see pic of myself on the same bike.
Richard

The bikes were stored in our workshop over three nights.

We went off the beaten track a couple of times.
My XT500 was popular, provided that I started it!

Pics of Gavin with his wife Danni, and Peter from Oz below.
Peter left the A7 at home, and rode the state of the art Honda (at least it was still a twin)

We visited a local private collection; lots of desirable bikes on show; these two are at the top of the list.

Looks like fun was had by all. I came across this photo and was wondering who the guy is trying to run away on the right side of the pic.

Ah, yes; the fuzz had just arrived, and I was trying to convince them we were no threat to the law abiding folk of Coolgardie!

It looks as though a good time was had by all.
regarding the top photo in reply #6, how did you manage to mollify the local wallopers with your mate in the red flowery hat relieving himself on their back wheel??
cheers

Thanks Rickard, a great few days, well organized and I enjoyed every bit of it. Looking forward to next year, it would be good if we could encourage some members from other parts of the would to go on the Orabandon Run and see another part of the world *yeah* *beer*

Another highly organized and highly sucessful event. Thanks Richard and the team for a brilliant weekend. It was just amazing to see riders helping one another keep their bikes going as can be required with these old girls over a 2 day event. There's no better way to see smell and feel the great Aussie outback, than the 2 day Orabandon.

Don't die wondering....
