Hi All. The very pretty bronze tacho angle drive fitted to my Road-Rocket has managed to fall to pieces,   I have lost the driven gear/drive shaft, brass thrust plate and outer core plug,  this is the one that sits horizontal and has the central tang to mate with the mag drive. Does anyone happen to know a supplier of these parts? or even have an incomplete unit that would yield the missing parts? I believe that the bronze ones are remade for Gold Stars  but whether the internals are the same, who knows, any ideas much appreciated. Thanks, Peter

I purchased a new bronze tacho drive from Phil Pearson. I don't know if he sells individual parts or if they will fit original bodies but it may be worth a try.

I had an original Smiths alloy drive that unfortunately spun the wrong way to a RC83 Chronometric RC so I had to get a bronze one from Phil Pearson too.

Top quality, looks better than the alloy original Smith drive cost was about £180

Thanks Mark and Stuart. I have already spoken to Phil Pearson as he sells new drives but he's not prepared to sell parts but would be prepared to overhaul it (at a substantial cost for one gear) if I send the whole thing to him. I still in hopes of being able to source the missing parts. Regards, Peter

Hi John.  Yes, I've actually sent the drive to them and they have contacted me to say that they have no parts suitable and will send it back. Regards, Peter

I'm looking for a cap/plug for my revcounter gearbox if anyone has a spare, or knows of a supplier? The old one came off on a ride and I'd like my $2 coin back! LOL

Hi Peter,
Is the drive ratio 1:1 ? on the  RR?
I seem to remember the goldies are?
Similar bronze bodied drives were used on Riley's, MG's and other upmarket cars  back in the fifties and sixties, also on some tractors. They were bolted onto the back end of the Lucas dynamo's
I do not know the ratio used on them?
I have one somewhere , but I am still unable to go rooting around in there after my knee op, maybe in a week or so
