Change of bikes
« on: 03.03. 2020 13:20 »
Hi All.
I Have just updated my forum profile as I have had a change of bikes, I have sold the A10 combination and the CB34 Gold Star and in their place, I now have a 1935 Blue-Star (photo attached) so have still remained loyal to the marque. Its the first time that I have ever ridden a girder fork bike and have found it a totally different riding experience, far greater than expected and everything happens at a much slower speed. I have found it so likeable that I'm now in the market for another pre-war project (OHV sporting model) if anyone happens to know of anything suitable, please advise. Thanks

Yes I went through the same, still have the twins but love riding my 1937 girder M23, apart from having to watch the road surface like a hawk for craters!

If anyone has the BSAOC mag you'll see me on the front cover last month!
1961 A10SR, spent a fortune at SRM
1961 A7SS, finally the right green
2011 1937 Empire Star, twin port, high pipes, 2023 off to pastures new.
2022 Gone to the dark side and bought a 1981 Honda Benly, electric leg for my old age! done 450 miles!
2023. 1972 Honda CL350 added. Another electric leg bike with a bit more oomf

Hi Greybeard.
Yes, I still have my collection of 'A' series bikes as shown below my signature.
I won't be replacing them with pre-war stuff but as Sav says, enjoy them in conjunction with the later bikes.
Thanks for the comments.

I have a 1931 Coventry Eagle and a 1936 Red Hunter and both make a nice contrast with the '51 Star Twin.
As the missus likes to say, I have old bikes, older bikes and ancient bikes. All good to ride though after a lifetime commuting on japanese stuff.

May not be a twin, but its a twin port  *wink2* lovely.
A good rider periodically checks all nuts and bolts with a spanner to see that they are tight - Instruction Manual for BSA B series, p46, para 2.

Guilty as charged mil lord!

It's only when I look at pre hip replacement pictures like that, me standing on one leg,  I realise just how much I was struggling.

Six months is nearly up so I'll have a go at starting the 'Emp' soon!

Bikes in better nick than I am!  *smile*
