Hi there
I am a new member to this forum I am a retired Sheet Metal Worker and live in North East England I have 2 bikes a 1957 Gold Flash which I restored from a basket case in 1995-96 also I own a 1963 BSA A65 Star Twin which was in bits and  is almost ready for the road. I do almost everything myself on restorations only things like rebores or regrinds do I contract out. My philosophy is never pay anyone to do anything if you are capable of doing it yourself. I find that the golden rule on restoration is never touch anything mechanical or electrical until you have a copy of an original parts list and workshop manual for your particular model and year. This is an excellent site where people are very good at helping each other and long may it continue. BOB.

Welcome Bob.
Totally agree - only by trying to do things for yourself do you ever learn. Shots with a digital camera are also a good idea before pulling things apart.
Look forward to pics of the bikes.

Hi Bob,

And a warm welcome to the forum from me too.  I'm also from NE England.  Maybe we know each other by sight.  Do you ever go to the Scorton Autojumble?

I'm from the Cleveland area so there are quite a few of us reasonably close to each other.  If we included others from the North West we could maybe hold a social get-together during the Summer months!!

Bsa-bill and I know of each other but it's good to hear from our other neighbours.

Hi Stu,

The next Scorton A/J is on Saturday 19th. February.  It's on the 3rd. Saturday of each month.  Go to Scotch Corner, take the A1 south for about 3 or 4 miles then turn off for Catterick.  About 1 mile before Catterick turn left onto the B1263 at cross roads with traffic lights and follow this road through Scorton Village (stay on the B1263) and the autojumble is about 1 mile past the village on the left hand side.

Hi,

Being in Chicago, I was amused by Beezageezauk's description of how to get to the Scorton Jumble. It seems little chance I'm going, barring unforeseen circumstances nearing the mystical. So, to be there vicariously, I found it in the satellite image and I think I see Beezageezauk's lorry.

Well done Richard.  I guess my description wasn't too bad for a guy from the windy city to find it!!

Yes, that certainly is the venue for the Scorton Autojumble.
