Clutch?

Anyone here with a complete six spring clutch they dont want? Need one for a BB34 single with a plunger single gearbox? I'm presuming they are the same for A10's? I live in Victoria.Thought of a Triumph clutch conversion but  what adaptor for a Rigid or plunger box. I doubt they would make one.

Hi Wilko,
I have fitted 4 spring clutches to a couple of plunger framed singles
The adaptor taper is bored deeper so as the clutch will sit further in on the gearbox shaft
On one bike I also had to shim out the cushdrive sleeve a bit
On another ZB single The adaptor I bought at an autojumble fitted perfectly and primary chain alignment is perfect

Its worth the effort

Thats interesting John , a friend just got a ZB we#re sorting the gearbox but haven't thought about the clutch and he's going to 2 bike jumbles shortly so I'll tell to look out for these adaptors,regards BobH.

Hi Bob,
If buying from an autojumble you really need the gearbox shaft with you as it is very hard to distinguish single and twin type adaptors just by looking at them 
It can take a bit of work to get it all lined up depending on the adaptor, finding an original one made all the
difference to the bikes I converted

Well i tried a plunger adaptor on a swinging arm box and it sits about 1/4 inch out further. So yes you would have to carry a rigid or plunger mainshaft around with you.

I have not been to the pub, I got a clutch adaptor from flea bay to fit the triumph clutch on the rrt2 which is now nicely in place on betsy the beezer. don't you just hate pattern parts!! with this adaptor I would have ended up with a 4mm spacer behind the crankshaft engine sprocket sleeve to line things up . luckily for me I had found an original one of these adaptors some months ago --BUT only after I had bought the pattern one . the original fits bang on in line with the crank sprocket so I am now a happy bunny. does anyone want to buy a 4 spring clutch adaptor that I am sure will fit YOUR!!!! gearbox mainshaft bang on o well I deserve a slurp tomorrow because these kind of jobs take a lot longer than you first think, ps I am glad i'm doing it inside with a nice open fire because otherwise I would have gone to the PUB!

can anybody tell me if there was or should be a ball bearing in the button on the pressure plate of the 4 spring clutch? the one I have looks like it once had one in it and I haven't got a clue, cheers

No ball just the hardened button.

cheers JulianS just got to get the badly made nut for the mainshaft sorted now , maybe at the local model engineers club.

Yes I have 2 (don’t ask why). I plan to get a new clutch from SRM with a belt drive as I have some wrist problems.  Drop me a message and we can sort something out.
