The collection
« on: 19.09. 2019 15:37 »
I have wanted to purchase a couple of bikes over the last couple of years but my eldest son convinced me not to just buy random bikes on a whim but to have a theme. So the theme is ALL the brit parallel twins. So I have the BSA A7 and the Norton Model 7. I have been looking at the remainder and the Triumph’s seamed the most expensive and or were always too far away. This one came up locally and was priced OK, since getting it home, I have found some issue the worst being the steering stop does not so need to fix that before I damage the tank.
She is a very pretty bike though. Now I just need an Ariel KG or KH, an Enfield meteor minor and a AJS Model 20 or a Matchless G9 for the set.

You were lucky! I bought a Rudge Ulster in 1962 and paid £1 for it! (Monty Python)

Thanks I like her, not as much as the A7  though *smile*.

She is a 1950 with matching numbers and dating cert. Originally exported to Malaya, where the PO but one purchased her and did much of the restoration. He brought her back to the UK in 1996 and completed the restoration (lots of receipts), then registered her in 2012. She was originally rigid and I have the ridged wheel so if the sprung hub ever causes a problem I will swap back.

Put the ridgid wheel back in it. The cops with Speed Twins had the sprung hub back in the fifties and used to fall off them regularly. The Triumph frame was never its best point even the swinging arm but the sprung hub was a bloody nightmare. Cheers. Gerry

Just a thought...... you could frame the sprung hub wheel and hang it in the shed for old farts like me who remember them to look at it and roll around the floor laughing their heads off. Only joking. Gerry
