Right. Cue X-file music or something similarly spooky. Did indeed do a 50 mile spin yesterday having topped up. Topped up again on 51 miles - and it took less than a gallon (8 UK pints). What? Eh?
There are several mentions on this thread already about people being daft enough to forget they have siphoned a couple of pints out/ forgotten to fill up etc and I have a feeling I might have just joined their ranks. Clearly the consumption can't suddenly improve that dramatically (although I had reset the air screw, the horizontal one, as advised, last week).
Damn and blind. Surely when I picked the bike up from Dover with half a gallon in the tank and stopped to fill the tank, I did actually fill the tank? I'm beginning to doubt my recollection, but I could have sworn I filled almost to the top. I am now of an age when I sometimes forget why I have gone into the greenhouse, so it is is just possible I bunged in two gallons and overcome by the excitement of a blat up the A2 on my new pride and joy convinced myself it was a full tank.
Whatever, there has been some seriously useful discussion - just hope I haven't wasted everyone's time. I'm going to keep careful notes on how much I get out of this tank
